What is Detox Massage?

Detox Massage Diet Relax Circulation

In combination with a detox diet, a detoxifying massage can help to purge the body of toxins, helping to promote physical and mental wellbeing. If you’ve decided to detox, a massage will be a great way to get maximum results from your plan, and with regular sessions you can look forward to a stronger immune system, better circulation and less stress!

Hands On

A detox massage is a deep tissue massage focussing on the body’s key detox ‘tools’: our muscles, our lymphatic system and our mind. When these three areas are working to maximum efficiency, toxins like artificial additives, pesticides and other foreign nasties are more easily eliminated, and we’ll feel healthier and happier as a result.

Circulate

Massage of any sort helps to perk up the circulation, sending the blood pumping around the body with renewed vigour. With it go oxygen and the fuel we need to function in the form of nutrients, which are turned into energy once they reach our muscles. Our organs benefit too - improved blood circulation encourages them to do their best work, particularly those concerned with the elimination of toxins.

Body Builder

One of the major ways in which a detox massage can benefit your body is by helping to strengthen and relax your muscles. Detox massage techniques work to put pressure on the muscles, stretching them and stimulating them by alternating the pressure of the massage. Relaxed muscles mean your body’s processes can work more efficiently, and strong muscles help to keep the lymphatic system in tip top condition.

Waste Disposal

The lymphatic system, along with the liver, is responsible for much of the body’s natural detox, acting as our own internal waste disposal unit. Having no natural ‘pump’ of its own, the lymphatic system is dependent on strong muscles, efficient breathing and exercise for its function. An overload of toxins can prevent the lymphatic system from working properly, leading to lethargy or illness, but a detox massage stimulates this clever piece of human engineering into action, so that waste can be eliminated more easily.

Mind Gains

Having a detox massage is a fantastic way of freeing your mind from stress and worry, both of which have physical effects on your body’s capacity to handle waste. Stress and exhaustion can lead to illness as we put our systems under constant pressure to perform, and we can often forget, or struggle to find the time, to take good care of ourselves. Convenience meals eaten on the run, liquid lunches and burning the candle at both ends will leave both mind and body feeling the worse for wear.

If you’ve never tried massage before, now is a great time to find out what all the fuss is about. Whether or not you plan to follow a detox diet, massage will bring detox benefits all by itself, so if you’re not quite ready to deprive yourself of all your favourite things, massage is a fantastic no-fuss, low effort way to pamper yourself inside and out.
